FAQ About Therapy

  • Therapy is done on a weekly frequency. This is to ensure that we get the best experience and outcomes possible.

I do not conduct therapy on a biweekly or monthly basis as consistency in therapy ensures the highest quality of therapy.

  • Therapy with me typically spans about one to two years (52+ sessions).

This duration is intentional, focusing on deep, long-term work.

First, establishing a strong rapport and understanding you deeply is a cornerstone of effective therapy, especially for those dealing with interpersonal issues or complex trauma, this does take time.

The long-term approach is also valuable because it allows me to witness your progress through different seasons of the year. Often, therapy can end when a crisis seems resolved, but without addressing the deeper problems that triggered it. This pattern can lead to a cycle of short-term fixes without real change.

Instead of just crisis management and going in and out of therapy, think of these one or 2 years of therapy as a dedicated season in your life where you are focused on your growth and healing as a person.

The best type of work I do involves, a deep commitment from my clients who want long term, and sustained healing and growth. Therefore, I do not work with clients that only want to do short term or crisis oriented therapy.

  • In my Bay Area Therapy Practice, each therapy session is around 50 minutes long.

  • Yes! I do telehealth, or virtual therapy over an online video platform.

  • Cancelations or reschedules must be made 48 hours ahead of appointment. If a cancellation/reschedule occurs ahead of 48 hours, you are free to reschedule if you would like.

Sessions that are canceled or rescheduled less than 48 hours prior to session will be charged at the full fee. Sessions that start late are also charged at the full 50 minute fee.

    Emergency Cancellations

I understand that life happens and emergencies occur. If those occur you are free to reschedule with me on the same week given my availability. Late cancellations that occur because of non-emergency reasons cannot be rescheduled and client will be charged the full fee.

The definition of what qualifies as an emergency is at my discretion. Most common instances are vehicle accidents, death or hospitalization of loved ones, or illness qualify as an emergency.

Common issues such as work obligations, family needs, forgetfulness, or general busyness do not qualify.

Please contact me if you need to cancel your session or have any questions.

  • Yes, I currently offer in-person therapy sessions. However, these are only available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • I offer therapy sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. I do not offer sessions on weekends. In-person therapy sessions are available only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

FAQ About Intake Therapy Session

  • During the intake session, we:

    • Review your completed intake documentation.

    • Discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and explore your primary concerns.

    • Explain the therapy process and how it will work for you.

    • Establish goals for therapy and set expectations for outcomes.

    • Review scheduling options and set up future sessions.

    • Go over billing details, including adding your payment method to Ivy Pay.

This session helps lay the groundwork for our work together and ensures a clear and focused start to your therapy journey.

  • The intake process is designed to help both of us determine if we’re a good fit to work together. At the end of the session, either you or I can decide that it’s not the right match. If that’s the case, we won’t schedule further sessions, and I’ll provide recommendations or referrals to other therapists or resources that may better suit your needs.

My goal is to ensure you get the support that’s right for you.

  • If you have any additional questions or need more information, feel free to email me at alex@claritywiththerapy.com. I’m happy to help!

Good Faith Estimate Notice - Bay Area Therapy

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
